           About

The Marion Anderson Building achieves LEED Platinum due to its variety of sustainable features and top class energy performance. For abundant natural daylighting, it consists of a central atrium clad with high efficiency low-E glass, which is effective at reflecting short-wave solar infrared energy to then double as a way to regulate the indoor temperatures at comfortable conditions throughout all seasons. Additionally, it includes operable windows in the offices and green roofs. From a thorough study of shading techniques and exterior wall designs, the current design allows for the reduction of solar heat gain by 50%; thus, optimizing overall energy performance. Lastly, acting as both a water and energy efficiency, the building is also connected to the campus' chilled water system, which utilizes cogeneration technology while a boiler condensing boiler system minimizes atmospheric emission.
