About
Pritzker Hall is a modernization -thanks to a $30M commitment(2020) from Anthony And Jeanne Pritzker Family Foundation- of the UCLA building designed by the first African American to becomes a licensed architect west of the Mississippi River, Paul Revere Williams. For seismic stability, a shadowbox design with horizontal lines from the original cement plaster and slender dampers were used to help absorb the shock. The marble-clad walls in the lobby & mezzanine combined with the second floor's waffle slabs provide the student study space with ample natural lighting, which reduced the reliance on artificial lighting during daylight.
