About
Saxon Suites is a great model for the sustainable reuse of an already existing building. The renovation included the additions of rain screen cladding, high performance windows that maximized energy with natural light, a permeable air barrier system, and extensive insulation to help with interior temperature regulation. The old mechanical systems from the previous standing buildings where then replaced with high-efficiency radiator units with a shared boiler. Lastly, the under siding of both levels were constructed using reclaimed Douglas Fir planks taken from demolished buildings, which demonstrated the waste mindfulness in the designing of this project.
