About
In close collaboration, Introba and Kevin Daly Architects was able to design this basketball center within LEED Platinum standards. This building has a focus on energy-efficiency through passive and active low energy strategies, for one it includes a natural ventilation system to regulate indoor thermal temperatures that reduces the reliance on AC. Additionally, due to the arched roof design a northern-facing clerestory skylight -made from ETFE, a fluorine-based plastic that is a more ecologically friendly solution to glass, which naturally lights the indoor basketball courts all throughout the daytime. Since the clerestory windows evenly distribute light into the building, there is no need to have the lights on while its light on, thus reducing the reliance on artificial lighting.
