The new accessible guardrail system of perforated bent aluminum planes into the lower level of the garden to further emphasize it as an educational laboratory and cultural amenity, by reflecting light back into the garden without obstructing the natural views. This serves as a multi-functioning facility that serves as a visitors center, classroom and meeting room, as well as a display space for garden specimens. The La Kretz Garden Pavilion was made possible by a generous donation from Morton La Kretz, philanthropist, real estate developer and UCLA alumnus.
