           About

Atelier Ten and SOM was able to recommend a sustainability design that maximizes energy, optimizes indoor temperatures, and water conservation. To take advantage of the climate in Los Angeles, this buildings wraps around a central courtyard, which allows for the outdoor to meet the indoor where natural lighting can enter and where natural ventilation can occur. In regards to energy efficiency, this buildings includes designed for external shading, occupancy sensors, radiant temperature systems, heat-flow resistant walls and roofing, and displacement ventilation. Water conservation was a main focus in the design of Geffen. It has a rainwater water collection system and a cool coil condenser system to provide non-potable throughout the year.
