The Horace Williams House has been the headquarters of the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill since 1973. The house was built by Benjamin Hedrick in 1855, renovated by George Winston in the 1890s, and willed to UNC by Horace Williams - all UNC professors. It now serves as a community center with educational programs, an art gallery, rental spaces, and special events, as well as being a center for historic preservation efforts in the Chapel Hill community.
