    1. Graves Hall

Graves Hall is the home of Phillips Academy's outstanding music department. Students come to Graves for music courses, private lessons on virtually any instrument, and selected ensemble rehearsals. Featuring 19 private practice studios, Graves also houses the Clift Library, which is home to thousands of music tracks, and contains numerous workstations, which students use to analyze music and compose their own arrangements. It also houses the Timken Room, which is frequently used as a concert hall and recording facility. Senior recitals, chamber music performances, and band rehearsals all occur in Timken. Constructed in 1883, Graves Hall was originally used as a science building. Its Victorian-style architecture, which it shares with nearby Phillips Hall, gives it a look that is distinctive from those Academy buildings built both before and after that time period.
