The University of Montana Oval anchors the campus with three acres lawn, trees and pathways. Both literally and figuratively, it is the center - the heart - of the UM campus. Anchored by Rudy Autio's legendary Grizzly Bear statue on the west end and the stately Main Hall to the east, there is always something happening on the Oval.
Students crisscross its sidewalks as they make their way to class. Friends gather in small groups to visit and eat lunch. Events like Convocation, Shakespeare in the Parks and outdoor movies bring students and community members together.
In every season, the view from the Oval and of the Oval offers a reminder of our beautiful location in the heart of western Montana.
