    1. Temporary Road Closures Jan. 25 and Feb. 1

As part of the regular maintenance of HVAC equipment at Rice University's Bioscience Research Collaborative (BRC) building located at 6500 Main Street, existing heat exchangers on the first floor of the building will be removed and replaced during the last weekend in January and the first weekend in February of 2025.

In order to safely remove the existing equipment and lift new equipment into its place, the city of Houston has issued a road and sidewalk closure permit for a segment of Travis Street between University Boulevard and Dryden Road, facilitating the installation and operation of a crane in this area. While this work is obviously very weather- and schedule-dependent, and so the dates and times could change, at present, the plan is to complete the work over the course of two weekends, with road/sidewalk closure and construction crane use taking place from:

      4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday Jan. 25

      and

      4 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday Feb 1.

If the work can be accomplished sooner than 6 p.m. on each Saturday, the roadway will be reopened at an earlier time.
