Organization: Coastal Plains Institute
Building on an existing project to save the rare striped newt, this project combines state standards-aligned activities and citizen scientist training to conserve the biodiversity of temporary wetlands of Northern Florida. Kids learn experientially from a native ecosystem and volunteers collect essential ecological data from the area's wetlands, thereby improving the environmental literacy of the region as well as detecting the decline of amphibian species.
