A new burner management system was recently implemented to increase the boilers' efficiency. Typically a single boiler is sufficient for campus needs. This centralized steam plant uses natural gas to boil water, which then carries a large amount of latent heat to campus buildings through underground tunnels. This system experiences lower heat loss and higher efficiency than a forced air system.
