Sustainability Management oversees honeybee hives that produce honey for retail on campus. The hives are in an apiary on South Campus and are overseen by a beekeeper who harvests the honey twice a year but will leave enough for the bees to endure the winter. The worker bees produce honey from the pollen and nectar they collect from the local plants. The nearby native pollinator garden on campus supports bee populations by providing a food source within their travel range of up to six miles.
