The original lighting in Comstock Avenue parking lots consisted of 39 high-pressure sodium bulbs. These bulbs were very inefficient and used approximately 250 Watts of energy per bulb resulting in a total energy usage of 11,505W. This project replaced these bulbs with more efficient LED streetlights which had an energy usage of only 101 Watts per bulb. The switched allowed the University to cut the total energy usage of the lot by 34% and resulted in annual savings of 33,100 kWH/year. This project also allowed the University to continue its goal of reducing greenhouse gas and CO2 emissions on campus to positively impact the surrounding environment.
