    1. Dacie Moses

When you crave a taste of home or a relaxing place to chill, Dacie Moses House (aka Dacie’s, or the Cookie House) is the place to go! Candace “Dacie” Moses was a long-time Carleton employee known for inviting students to her house for cookies, brunch, and conversation (and often a game of cribbage). When she passed away in 1981, she bequeathed her house to the college with the understanding that it would remain a gathering place for students, and it’s been “Dacie’s” ever since. With 24/7 access to baking supplies and board games, weekly Sunday brunches for the community (uninterrupted since 1947), and a decades-long history of hosting two Carleton a cappella groups—the Singing Knights and the Knightingales—for their regular rehearsals, Dacie’s brings a cozy aura of hominess and hospitality to the college. Dacie’s birthday is also celebrated at the house each January during a special Sunday brunch event, often accompanied by performances from the Knights and Knightingales.
