        111-113 Nevada Street

Built in 1866, Seccombe House was originally the residence of Rev. Charles Seccombe, one of Carleton’s founders and its first financial agent. The house previously stood at the corner of 1st Street and College Street, just southwest of the present location of Skinner Chapel. It was purchased by Carleton in 1874 and used as the original music hall from 1880–1914. It was moved to its present location and converted to faculty housing in 1916. From what our Archives team can tell, this makes Seccombe the oldest building on campus! (Willis can still keep its crown, though, because it is still the oldest building in continual use at Carleton).
