Hoppin House, now a home base for staff members who keep Carleton safe, was the longtime residence of the Hoppin family, who occupied the house for nearly 100 years before donating it to the college. The Hoppins are deeply connected to Carleton—several consecutive generations attended beginning in 1903, and Richard Hoppin ’36 married Jean Rice ’35, sister-in-law of President Larry Gould.
