The College of Arts and Letters (CAL) offers a small liberal arts college feel within the comprehensive university of JMU. Discover yourself and your passion through study that will broaden your horizons and sharpen your intellect.

Affectionately known as the “college on the Quad,” CAL offers high-quality programs across thirteen majors in the humanities, social sciences, communication and pre-professional studies at James Madison University, as well as over 40 minor programs. Students often combine their chosen major with a second major or minor, further expanding their educational experience.

CAL is also home to several of the university’s prestigious centers, including the Furious Flower Poetry Center, the African, African American, and Diaspora (AAAD) Studies Center, and the Institute for Constructive Advocacy and Dialogue (ICAD).
