The center (SAIS) is a standalone facility that exists to visibly acknowledge the university's commitment to the American Indian higher education community. Here students can attend class, utilize the study spaces, attend social and cultural programs or just relax by watching TV, cooking in the kitchen or enjoying the artwork. Artwork reflecting Native American culture is on display in the atrium. There is a drum room where the Seven Council Fires are represented.
