      Picea glauca

Common in most forested regions throughout Canada, with the exception of along the British Columbia coast. The white spruce is important in Canada's lumber industry, for both the production of wood pulp and timber. Also, the tree is planted as an accent tree in landscaping projects. In the past, North American Indians used the pliable roots in association with birch bark to construct canoes.
