Origin: Native to North America; it can be found as far north as Canada, as far west as Oklahoma, and as far south as Texas.
Fun Fact: This tree is one of the species whose sap can be used to make maple syrup. If it were tapped, it could produce around 10 to 20 gallons of sap a year, and as long as the tree remains healthy, produce sap for multiple decades.
