    1. Ryman Mall

The Ryman Mall is the historic entrance to campus that begins at the intersection of Arthur and University avenues and runs to the Grizzly Beat statue on the west end of the Oval.

James H.T.  Ryman, a local banker, was a founding member of the University. Construction of the mall began in 1966 using recycled bricks from Higgins Avenue. In 1969 University Avenue between Maurice and Arthur was closed to vehicle traffic and renamed James H.T. Ryman Mall. A bronze plaque is set in the west end of the mall acknowledging Ryman.
