    1. Gottwald Center for the Sciences

      Gottwald Center for the Sciences is a state-of-the-art facility that houses the biology, chemistry, physics, biochemistry and molecular biology, and health studies departments, as well as components of the Virginia Institute for Scientific Research.

      With 22 teaching laboratories and 50 student-faculty research laboratories, the Gottwald Center is home to groundbreaking student and faculty research. The space includes lab facilities for organic chemistry, biochemistry and neuroscience; a quantitative science center; a nuclear magnetic resonance center; and a digital biological imaging center. The atrium and reading room provide areas to study and gather, while student work areas are organized into islands that promote group work.
