      About the Biotechnology Research and Training Center (BRTC)

      The Biotechnology Research and Training Center (BRTC) works to turn knowledge into real-world benefits for the people of southeastern North Carolina. Its main goal is to help grow the local economy through teamwork and innovation.

      The Center focuses on building strong partnerships between UNC Pembroke, local businesses, schools, and government agencies. These partnerships create new opportunities for research, education, and job training in biotechnology.

      The Center’s Main Goals:

      1. Create more high-paying biotech jobs by training a skilled workforce and staying connected with local businesses.
      2. Support underrepresented communities by offering hands-on biotech training and career pathways.
      3. Help local entrepreneurs by providing access to technology, business support, and funding opportunities.

      The BRTC is based at the Regional Center for Economic, Community, and Professional Development, located in the Carolina and Commerce Technology Center (COMtech).
