On your way to the other Residence Halls, you can see Allen Memorial Church, where the larger student assemblies are held. This is the Methodist church affiliated with the school and is open to the college and the community. Many students sing in the choir or volunteer at the church. Still a thriving congregation, the church was built in 1910 in memory of the Reverend Young John Allen, Methodist missionary to China from 1860 to 1907. His great, great granddaughter is actress Kathleen Turner.
