    1. History Station: USC After World War II

      The GI Bill and the end of World War II caused USC’s enrollment to skyrocket. Before Pearl Harbor, USC enrolled about 6,000 full-time students. Less than five months after the end of the war, the population had bulged to 8,300 daytime students and 3,500 evening students. In 1947–48, it hit 24,000. Accommodating the influx of older, more demanding students forever changed the university. This station describes the effect of the former GIs on USC. Sponsor: USC Class of 1989
