History Station: A Gathering Place
Tommy Trojan, originally conceived as a present from the Alumni Association to celebrate USC’s 50th anniversary, is probably the best-known landmark on the University Park campus. In 1928, sculptor Roger Noble Burnham painted studies of many football players in search of the ideal athletic proportions. This station explores the origins of the familiar bronze hero, as well as the importance of its nearest neighbors — Bovard Administration Building and the Gwynn Wilson Student Union.
