Campus Garden & Apiary
In the campus garden, we work to grow plants that benefit pollinator species. We conduct research, educate, and involve the community. The campus garden is one-third of an acre in size and contains a managed meadow for native pollinators, a sunflower meadow, a state-registered apiary, and over 55 raised garden beds with over 100 flower varieties, an herb garden, a tea garden, a three sisters garden, vegetables, and gourds! Several citizen science projects are also ongoing in the campus garden, such as the Crown Bees Native Bee houses, the Great Pumpkin Project, the Great Sunflower Project, Project Budburst, and Bumblebee Watch. Our state registered apiary is buzzing with life since we have nine honeybee hives busy at work providing pollinator services! We have four native bee houses of different types and bumble bee houses too.
