The English E. Jones Health and Physical Education Center, completed in 1972, is named for the former UNC Pembroke Chancellor from 1962-1979.
The Jones Center houses the Department of Athletics, Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation and has two gymnasiums, a natatorium with a swimming pool and diving tank, a fitness center, a human performance laboratory, two racquetball courts and a small lecture hall. In 2004, the Jones Center underwent an $8.8 million renovation that added an additional 32,000 square feet, including a main west side entrance.
