        In 1898, the cornerstone for University Hall was laid. A year later at the formal opening the building was dedicated University Hall. Over time, the term Main Hall has become commonly used, especially on campus but the official name for the building remains University Hall

        Today the building houses the Office of the PresidentOffice of the ProvostOffice of Administration & FinanceOffice of Research & Development and well as classrooms. 

        The clock tower hold 47 bronze carillon bells weighing more than 12 tons. On Friday's UM's official carillonneur plays a noon concert on the bells for all of campus.

        Accessible Entrance: The accessible entrance to the building is a ramp on the north side of the building leading to the lower level. This entrance has an automatic door opener.

        Accessible Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are located on the lower level.

        Parking: Closest accessible parking is located in the lot east of University Hall between the University Center and Mansfield Library.

        Barriers: No access to upper levels.
