          Year Built: 1965

          With a capacity of 6,822, Carmichael Arena is home to Carolina’s volleyball, gymnastics, wrestling and women’s basketball teams. The arena includes a Women’s Basketball Museum, as well as tributes to 100+ All-Americans in our 28 varsity sports.           The university honored William D. Carmichael, Jr., by naming a gymnasium for him in 1965. Carmichael played on the basketball team and graduated from the university in 1921.
