    1. Bellarmine Hall

The former residence of the Walter B. Lasher Family, Bellarmine Hall is one of the most iconic buildings on Fairfield’s campus. Originally built in 1921, the Tudor-style mansion was purchased by the Jesuits in 1942 as the University’s foundational building. Today, the building is home to the Office of the President and Provost, among other administrative departments.

Offering breathtaking views of Long Island Sound, Bellarmine Hall’s Great Lawn is the location of many signature Fairfield events, including the President's Ball (our popular homecoming-style presidential ball), and our graduation day Commencement ceremonies.

On the main floor, the Great Hall and the George C. Diffley Board Room are used for smaller meetings or receptions.

The lower level is also home to the Fairfield University Art Museum’s Bellarmine Hall Galleries, which are nationally recognized for their collections of Renaissance and Baroque art, as well as their temporary exhibitions. A dynamic space for engagement with the visual arts, the galleries feature a permanent collection of European and American paintings, drawings, prints, and photographs, as well as Asian, African, and Pre-Columbian objects, including long-term loan antiquities and medieval pieces from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Yale University Art Museum, and the American Numismatic Society. The Fairfield University Art Museum is an essential academic and cultural resource that brings original works of art to campus and the greater Fairfield County through outreach, free admission, and free events.
