The Barron Center for Arts & Recreation, opening in Fall 2026 at Fairfield Prep, boasts over 47,000 square feet of dedicated space for athletics and the arts. This impressive facility will support Fairfield Prep Athletics with a gymnasium featuring three basketball courts, three batting cages, and a competition court for basketball and wrestling. A state-of-the-art strength and conditioning center, nearly double the size of the previous facilities, will enable entire teams to train together simultaneously. Additionally, there is a dedicated erg and cardio room, and coaches’ meeting rooms. The locker room is designed to accommodate all 35 athletic teams.
The new band space includes two practice rooms and a music technology classroom, enhancing the resources available for our students in the performing arts. The introduction of a black box theatre will transform the theatre program at Fairfield Prep, offering a dedicated stage for students, allowing for more frequent and longer-running shows, and expanding curricular possibilities in the performing arts. With a maximum capacity of over 200, the theatre will enable entire Prep classes to gather for programs and presentations.
The newly enhanced visual and performing arts facilities, located on the first floor of Arrupe Hall in close proximity to the theatre, will enrich learning with a band/orchestra classroom featuring two recording studio rooms, a music tech classroom with 17 student stations, a visual arts studio, and a performing arts classroom.
The Barron Center for Arts & Recreation represents a significant step forward in providing Prep students with the resources they need to excel both in athletics and the arts.
