In 1959, a new women's physical education gymnasium was built. It was named Rentfrow Gym after Era Rentfrow, a woman who spent most of her life at NMSU. She enrolled in preparatory school in 1911, graduated in 1919, and was the university registrar from 1922 to 1959. This gymnasium is currently home to the College of Education's Department of Kinesiology and Dance.
