The 24" observatory on 'A' mountain is located on Tortugas Mountain and is supplied with a 1967 Boller and Chivens 24" reflector telescope. For years, the observatory has been used for imaging and observing planets in our solar system. Today the 'A' mountain observatory is used for NMSU undergraduate courses, small research projects, and observing a wide variety of stars for the American Association of Variable Star Observers.
