Bellarmine Hall is where the Office of the President is located, and many important events are held here. At the beginning of your first year, the University and its faculty will welcome you to Fairfield for the next four years on the back lawn of Bellarmine Hall. Graduation is also held on the back lawn of Bellarmine, which makes Bellarmine a very sentimental and symbolic place on campus. This is also where our “Presidential Ball” is held at the beginning of each school year. Pres Ball is Fairfield’s version of a homecoming, with dancing, food, and a DJ; it’s something that all Fairfield students look forward to each year. In the basement of Bellarmine Hall is the Fairfield University Art Museum, a dynamic space for engagement with the visual arts on campus. In this gallery is a small but choice permanent collection of European and American paintings, drawings, prints and photographs, as well as Asian, African and Pre-Columbian objects. Objects on long-term loan include antiquities and medieval pieces from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Yale University Art Museum, the Worcester Art Museum, and the American Numismatic Society; Asian art on loan from the Columbia University Collection; and European paintings and objects borrowed from private collections. FUAM is an essential academic and cultural resource that brings original works of art to the Fairfield University community, and to the residents of Fairfield County and beyond through outreach, free admission and free events.
