    1. Egan (Marion Peckham) School of Nursing and Health Studies

The Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies (NHS) is home to Fairfield's nationally ranked healthcare programs, as well as the Kanarek Center for Palliative Care Nursing Education. The 70,000-square-foot facility houses a state-of-the-art simulation center, enhanced clinical settings, open collaboration and study areas, and a high-tech teaching environment that enables students to practice fundamental healthcare skills and solve clinical problems before working in a real-life setting.

When walking through our third-floor simulation suite, you'll feel as though you're walking the halls of an actual hospital. Our simulation rooms replicate medical, surgical, maternity, psychiatric, and pediatric unit environments, allowing instructors to deliver student experiences across the continuum of care. The Egan School's standardized patient program uses trained actors, as well as simulation models with realistic heart and lung sounds, to simulate patient experiences and provide students with an opportunity to practice their diagnostic and communication skills. There is even a simulation model named Lucy that "gives birth!"
