      1. Chaplin Hall

Located on the Upper Parade Ground, Chaplin Hall is home to Norwich’s School of Architecture + Art. Students here engage in hands-on, studio-based learning, with access to 3D printing technology, dedicated workspaces, and a semester abroad program in Berlin. Architecture students also benefit from 24/7 studio access, fostering a collaborative and immersive creative environment.

        History:

Built in 1907 with funding from industrialist Andrew Carnegie, Chaplin Hall has played many roles in Norwich history. It originally housed the campus library and the early Electrical Engineering Department. After the department relocated in 1941, the building became a library and was later renovated and rededicated in 1953 as the Henry Prescott Chaplin Memorial Library, following a gift from trustee Henry P. Chaplin.

With the opening of Kreitzberg Library in 1993, the building was transformed once again—this time into the home of the School of Architecture + Art, where it continues to support creativity and innovation today.
