Forward Together Forward Memorial Garden honors the five students slain in the Feb. 2008 shootings at Cole Hall. Located outside the east doors of Cole Hall, and along the banks of Watson Creek, the garden includes:
- The sculpture “Remembered,” by Bruce A. Niemi is an 18-foot-high stainless steel representation of flames reaching skyward honoring the slain students.
- Five sections of red granite, each bearing the name of a student who lost his or her life.
- A ring of young trees including Dawn Redwoods and the Illinois state tree White Oaks
- Benches for reflection surrounding the stainless steel sculpture.
