The heart of the Pomona College campus, Marston Quadrangle was built in 1919-23 and was the primary organizing feature of Myron Hunt's 1908 campus plan, which envisioned a quad anchored by a library (Carnegie Hall, at that time), flanked by buildings to the north and south, and crosses by axes and vistas, like the view you can see from Bridges Hall of Music to Smith Campus Center.
This green space has morphed over the years--all sides are now pedestrian walkways--but has always remained an open public space where you can find students studying or playing sports, Pomona community members walking dogs or taking young children for a stroll, or the campus coming together in celebration for events like Commencement and Alumni Weekend.
