      Named for William C. Anderson, the 4th President of Miami (1849-1854). During his tenure as President enrollment at Miami jumped from 68 to 266. The present Anderson Hall is the second to bear the name. The original structure, known first as East Hall then as West Hall, was built in 1919 as a temporary structure and was renamed Anderson Hall in 1948. It was demolished in 1961 for the construction of Warfield Hall and the name transferred to the new building on Oak Street.
