Named for William Henry Shideler, a 1907 graduate of Miami. Mr. Shideler was a professor of zoology and geology (1910-56); he established the Geology Department at Miami 1920 and headed that department until his retirement in 1956. Shideler Hall is home of the departments of geology and environmental earth science and geography, the Limper Geology Museum, and the Institute for the Environment and Sustainability.
