The Door
The Academy adopted this door in the 1920s as its’ principal icon, and the centerpiece of the school seal. In addition to recalling the historical and geographical context of the school, this distinctive architectural feature serves elegantly as a symbol of welcome and a metaphor for the opportunities opened through education. In 2000, the Academy commissioned a specialty millwork shop to craft a highly accurate replica to replace the original door, which is now preserved and on display at Historic Deerfield’s Flynt Center for Early American Life, down the street.
