Hoyt Hall was named after Phyllis Hoyt in 1981. Ms. Hoyt served Western College as Asst. to the Dean (1946-47), Asst. Dean of Students (1947-52), Director of Student Activities (1952-64), and VP (1964-74).
The facility was originally constructed as a library for Western College for Women. Hoyt Hall was acquired in 1973 when Western College was purchased by Miami.
