      401 S. Patterson Ave., Oxford, OH 45056

Originally known as "Gelnwilde" this house was built in 1898 by James Ramsey Patterson, class of 1858 and Turstee (1899-1913). He used it as a summer home, and in later years as his residence, until his death in 1913. In 1914 the house and 70 acres of land adjoining the Western College campus were given to Western College by Patterson's two sisters. The house served as home of the Western College presidents from 1914 to 1973, when it was acquired by Miami as part of the Western College.
