Pfahler Hall
Located here: Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics and Astronomy
Research and rigor collide to bring the sciences to life in this iconic hall of discovery. It is here where physics professor John W. Mauchly began research that resulted in the electronic general-purpose computer, and where Walter W. Marsteller ’49 built an astronomy observatory using war surplus material. Pfahler also houses our “Pieces of Earth’s History” geology collection, which boasts more than 1,600 samples.
