            Robert Mulliken, a physicist and chemist, brought Florida State University its first Nobel Prize. While serving as Florida State University Distinguished Research Professor of Chemical Physics, Mulliken was awarded the 1966 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on molecular orbital theory in computing the structure of molecules.
