      1. Randy Jackson Survivor Tree

In the spring of 2010, a Survivor Tree sapling was planted near Memorial '70 in honor of the late Randy Jackson, a WSU plane crash survivor who passed away earlier that year after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

The American Elm is a sapling derived from the 100-year-old Survivor Tree that survived the bomb blast at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995.

The WSU survivor tree was donated by the citizens of Bel Aire, Kansas, a suburban community north of Wichita., through the Bel Aire Tree Board. Jackson was a resident of Bel Aire.
