The Hawkins Building is located at 1600 Jamesville Avenue near the south campus of Syracuse University. This warehouse building was originally constructed in 1960 for DeWitt Wholesale Grocery. In 1982, Syracuse University took over the building and consolidated storage that had previously been housed in three separate facilities.
The high-bay metal building houses offices and storage space for the library, art, mail services, archives,
records management, packing, print shop, and other material storage. The interior includes some second-floor mezzanines and offices. In its current configuration, the building contains about 107,122 square feet of space.
