Nickname: MEEM
The R. L. Smith Building (the “MEEM”) is home to Michigan Tech's largest academic department. The building features more than 55,000 square feet of laboratory space for hands-on learning and research, and its 13-story tower makes it the second-tallest building in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It is named after former Michigan Tech president Ray Smith.
